01 / HOW THE MATCHING WORKS
A rules-based engine that translates portco inputs into personalized SemperSystem recommendations.
When a portfolio company completes the intake form, their responses are passed through a matching algorithm that evaluates four key dimensions — sector, buyer persona, funding stage, and GTM maturity — and maps them to the most relevant SV platform resources. Here's how each input drives the output:
| Input Condition |
Recommended Resource |
| GTM maturity ≤ 2 AND stage is Pre-seed or Seed |
SV Accelerator Program (high priority) |
| Buyer persona includes Employers, Brokers, Health Plans, or Carriers |
Strategic LP Introductions — matched to relevant LP categories (e.g. MetLife, Cigna, BlueCross) |
| Sector is Health Tech |
Health-focused Advisor Group + HLTH / JPM conference access via Transform |
| Sector is Fintech |
Fintech Advisor Group + InsureTech Connect conference access |
| Sector is Work Tech |
HR Tech Advisor Group + HR Tech Conference access |
| ARR under $500K OR stage is Pre-seed or Seed |
Preferred Vendor Network for operational infrastructure |
| GTM maturity ≥ 4 AND ARR ≥ $500K |
GTM Introductions as top priority (direct warm intros) |
| All companies |
Peer Founder Network + Sequoia Consulting Group access |
Resources are grouped into three tiers on the results page — Primary (highest match strength), Secondary (relevant but lower priority), and Always-On (available to every portco regardless of inputs). In V3, this rules-based logic will be augmented by an AI layer that interprets open-text responses to surface additional recommendations.
02 / WHY THIS PROBLEM
SV's edge is its network. But without structured onboarding, access to that network can be ad-hoc
SemperVirens has built one of the most connected ecosystems in venture: 200+ senior executives, strategic LPs across every major buyer category, and a proprietary accelerator program. But as the portfolio grows past 70 companies, routing new portcos to the right resources can't depend on individual relationships or tribal knowledge. The onboarding moment is the highest-leverage intervention point: connecting a company to the right advisors and programs at week one versus month six produces meaningfully different outcomes. This tool operationalizes the SemperSystem so every portco gets the same quality of support, regardless of which partner leads their deal.
03 / WHY THESE TOOLS
Built for speed, designed for any team to own.
This tool was built using Claude Code, which allowed me to go from concept to working prototype in a matter of hours without a traditional engineering background. That same accessibility extends to the tool itself: any platform team member can run it, share it, or update it without needing a developer. There is no backend infrastructure to maintain, no deployment pipeline to manage, and no dependencies to install. It runs entirely in the browser. When the team is ready to scale beyond a demo, the storage layer can be swapped out for Airtable or Notion with minimal rework.
04 / V2 AND BEYOND
Post-MVP Roadmap
V2 — Real Backend
Replace localStorage with Airtable so submissions persist and the full team shares one live dashboard. Add automated Slack and email alerts when a new company submits, so platform follow-up happens within 24 hours.
V3 — CRM Integration + AI Layer
Integrate with SV's CRM so portco data pre-fills from the investment memo and founders don't have to re-enter information SV already has. Additionally I would add an AI layer that reads the open-text 'biggest challenge' field and augments matching logic beyond rule-based recommendations.
V4 — Feedback Loop
Introduce a quarterly check-in form that tracks which resources each portco actually engaged with and which were most helpful. Feed outcomes back into the matching algorithm so recommendations improve over time based on real data, not assumptions.
